 So,
you are probably asking yourself, what does Kuna
mean and how did the city get its name.
Apparently some time ago, pioneers traveled
through the now Kuna area. The pioneers decided
to build a railroad system and wanted to build
it through to the city of Boise. The track would
end in what is now called Kuna, which means the
end of the trail. Not long after this, the land
started to be cultivated and farmed by people
who wanted to make Kuna their home. Over time,
more people started migrating to Kuna and before
long, they had a town.
Now, decades
later, Kuna is much larger and one of the
fastest growing communities in the Treasure
Valley. Like many of the small (but growing)
communities in this area there are still some
residents who still farm, however, the majority
of Kuna is made up of a growing number of
residential subdivisions. Many people choose to
live in Kuna because of its affordable housing
and close proximity to the city of Boise where
many of Kuna's residents work.
Kuna is the gateway city to the Birds of Prey,
(as is evident by the official city seal) and
the National Habitat Area and is the forefront
of the Western Heritage Byways Project. Kuna is
located a short 20 to 30 minutes or so from
downtown Boise, Idaho. Kuna has a rich
agricultural history with a strong sense of community
pride, which turns into a high level of citizen involvement
with lots of input on the overall direction Kuna
will go as it continues to grow.

environment.
